African Bird Club

What is ABC?
ABC’s aim is to promote knowledge about and the conservation of African birds and their habitats. ABC takes a Continent-wide view and maintains a Conservation Fund to complement and support the work of local societies, such as Nature Kenya, and of international conservation organisations working in Africa.

The Club publishes a Bulletin twice a year to serve as a forum in which members can publish articles and opinions, and read about recent discoveries throughout the Continent. ABC runs an information service for members and administers an e-mail discussion site, AfricanBirding, for people to communicate with any of hundreds of members world-wide and get answers to questions and advice about birding in Africa.

The ABC Bulletin

The ABC Bulletin is published twice-yearly and is packed full of feature articles about the African birding scene and includes:

  • news and recent reports from around the region including details of new species, conservation updates, etc
  • fully illustrated identification articles for difficult groups such as the greenbuls
  • informed reviews of Africa-related birding books and sound recordings
  • guides to top birding spots in Africa

A new email discussion list called 'AfricanBirding' is for anyone interested in wild birds, birding and conservation in continental and island Africa. It is intended as a forum for everyone, whether newcomers to birdwatching, experienced birders or professional ornithologists.

Postings can be made in either ENGLISH or FRENCH.
To join send an email to this address: AfricanBirding@yahoogroups.com.

How does it work?
E-mail messages (postings) to the group address AfricanBirding@yahoogroups.com are forwarded to everyone in the group. Anyone in the group can reply to the message.
