Committee overview
The Bird Committee works to promote the study, conservation and awareness of birds and their habitats in eastern Africa. This is being done through the work of the following Sub-committee's and Schemes:
- Ringing Scheme of East Africa
- Publications sub-committee
- Records sub-committee
- Binoculars sub-committee
Other Bird Committee activities
- Supporting Nature Kenya's Wednesday Morning Birdwalks around Nairobi.
- Supporting public events such as 'World Birdwatch' to raise awareness and funds for bird conservation
- Advising on ornithological issues
- Together with the Ornithology Department of the National Museums of Kenya, will jointly run a weeklong general introduction to ornithology course every year: Fundamentals of Ornithology
- Maintaining the KENYABIRDSNET e-group, to support the communication of Kenya birders and those who are interested in Kenya birds
- Assists in coordinating Kenya BirdFinder an internet-based network of databases for the collection of bird observation worldwide
