Nature Kenya recognizes communities as champions for conservation of nature. We engage them through Site Support Groups (SSGs) approach in and around priority conservation supporting them to:
- Build their capacity to develop nature-based enterprises
- Monitor species and habitats
- Create awareness on biodiversity conservation
- Rehabilitate degraded habitats
- Enhance their organizational/institutional capacities
- Mitigate threats to biodiversity
Site Support Groups :
Site Support Groups (SSGs) are the local conservation nuclei, composed of enthusiastic local people who are concerned about the fate of our environment and are registered with the relevant government departments. Nature Kenya works with SSGs to raise awareness, attract funding, build local capacity, monitor progress and mitigate any threats.
