Arabuko-Sokoke
Forest and the surrounding environs of Mida Creek and Watamu are
well recognized around Kenya and the world for their significant
and unique biodiversity.
Unfortunately,
they are also under great threat which is why Nature Kenya has
been actively working with local communities in this area on conservation
and sustainable natural resource use issues since 1993. We have
also recently expanded our focus to include the unprotected areas
of Dakacha Woodland, Sabaki River Estuary, and Tana River Delta.
In
order to raise awareness of our work in these areas, Nature Kenya,
through the Arabuko-Sokoke Forest Management Team, has developed
a newsletter, called Mbambakofi, with articles and information
about local conservation groups, projects and activities.
Likewise,
Friends of Arabuko-Sokoke Forest writes a monthly bulletin, called
Fugu News, about events and activities happening in the
forest.
We
invite you to learn more about this fascinating area by subscribing
to these newsletters – you can contact asfecotourism@yahoo.com
for Mbambakofi and foasf@bigfoot.com
for Fugu News.
