Small Grants Scheme - 1 : 2 The Bird Committee supports projects that help to further its aims through its Small Grants scheme. Guidelines for applicants: 1. The activities for which a Small Grant is requested must relate clearly and directly to the Committee's aims. Priority is given to work relating to threatened bird species and their habitats, and to the following areas:
2. Only individuals and small groups-not large institutions-are eligible. 3. Applications should be submitted to the Bird Committee through the Secretary at least three months before the intended start of the project. Applications should be 2-3 pages in length and preferably typed. They must conform to the format requirements set out by the Bird Committee in the document 'Applying for a small grant' (available from the Nature Kenya office). 4. The Committee will usually inform the applicant of its decision within two months after receipt of the application. Applicants may be invited to a Committee meeting to present their application. 5. Small Grants may be in kind and service, such as loan of equipment or logistical assistance, or financial support, or both. When financing, the Bird Committee prefers co-financing along with other organisations. Funds will only be released once the applicant has secured full funding. 6. Small Grants may cover the complete proposed project, or specific activities within a project. Salaries will not normally be supported. 7. The maximum value of a Small Grant is Ksh 50,000 (fifty thousand shillings). 8. Successful applicants will be required to sign a Small Grant agreement setting out the terms and conditions of the award. For further information, or to submit an application, contact the Bird Committee Secretary via the Nature Kenya office.
